It started with itchy arms. Then my throat got really warm. Spots broke out. I had a need to cough, but fire came out of my mouth! Then the spots turned into green iridescent scales…

These were some of the first signs of Dragon Pox. Many fairies in the Fairy Lands got it, and if we tried to speak fire would come out of our mouths and scorch the nearest fairy.
We learned to stay in our flowers, palaces, or trees, and keep at least a dragon’s breath away from each other. And I hesitate to say that dragon’s breath could be stinkier than the Blighted Bog in the Fairy Lands…
Happily, most fairies recovered fully, eventually losing their scales and going back to normal. However, some turned completely into dragons. We tried every kind of magic, spell, potion, and elixir, and nothing worked. Fortunately, we could still communicate with them, and they became dragons we ride and play with.
After a while, nobody got sick anymore. After the last scale fell off the last fairy, we had a Fairy Ball to end all Fairy Balls. Dancing to the wee hours, singing, fairy cakes and Mariposa Tea in great abundance! I probably shouldn’t mention, but Twizzle got into the Rainbow Juice and made everything rainbow coloured…
The good news is that it will go away, and the more everyone stays home, the sooner that happens. May you stay safe, and may the Dragon Pox never find you!
